Long Response:

1. The people of Charlottesville decide to cover up war statues after the death of a women that was killed at a white nationalist protest. They believe that the statues represent a bad example on the way Americans are living today.

2. I think that the war statues should not be covered up because they are a reminder of an important time in America's history. If we get rid of the historic reminder, we might forget about what happened. Once we forget, the history and problems could come back and the outcome could be worse.

3. I think that UT taking down the confederate statues are a bad idea because, once again, they  represent an important part of America's history and it would be wrong to forget that. People have a right to know how America became how it is today, and discarding a piece of history like that will not allow that to happen.

4. I would like the statues to be visible in public because it gives the places where they are placed an independent feel. For example, the statues in Austin should be proudly shown in public because they are apart of our history. Just because some of the statues do not represent the best and brightest moments in history, doesn't mean we shouldn't forget about it.

5. I have not heard anybody talking about the statues until this class.
